Assessment
The State Director of Assessment (SDA) is responsible for and oversees the USSF
referee assessment program in Oregon. This includes conducting assessments
necessary for referee upgrades and giving feedback to referees when feasible. The
SDA also arranges basic training for new assessors and continuing education for
experienced assessors.

- Steve Brooks is the SDA. Steve started refereeing in 1987 and has been a
grade 6 since 1998. He’s refereed youth, adult, high school, college and indoor
games and is a USSF State Assessor as well as a NISOA Local Assessor. He
and his wife Cindy, also a State Referee, have 2 boys who have played up to the
college level and are now active referees. In his real life Steve is a wine
salesman for Young's-Columbia Wine Company in the Vancouver area. In his
spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, his 2 dogs and his extended
family...referees.
